FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHO CAN JOIN?
Any UEA student regardless of your degree!
HOW MUCH IS MEMBERSHIP?
It is £7 for the year. This includes membership to all ensembles currently ran by the society.
DO I NEED TO AUDITION?
No! We take musicians of all abilities.
DO YOU ALLOW ALL INSTRUMENTS?
Yes! We have various groups ranging from String Ensemble to Jazz Collective so basically all instruments can participate. If you are a singer there are plenty of solo opportunities in the bands as well as in the choir.
DO YOU PROVIDE INSTRUMENTS?
Unfortunately you will have to bring your own instruments. If you are a drummer or pianist there are instruments available but they are for rehearsals only.
HOW GOOD DO I NEED TO BE?
Any ability is welcome! The band leaders are happy to help you improve your skills!
DO YOU OFFER MUSIC LESSONS?
Unfortunately we do not offer music lessons. If you would like to enquire about private lessons get in touch with the UEA Music Centre, which has a noticeboard containing the details of several tutors. N.b. Neither UEA Music Society or UEA Music Centre can be held responsible for any of these tutors as they are not associated with these organisations.
CAN I USE THE PRACTICE ROOMS?
There is an additional fee of £6 to use the practice rooms provided by the UEA Music Centre (otherwise £12 for student non members). If you require more information about this, please contact us or the Music Centre.
