SATURDAY 29TH FEBRUARY
CARTUNES CONCERT
Led by Big Band and Concert Band, for our second themed concert of the year we organised an evening of childhood nostalgia through the form of famous cartoon soundtracks from film and television! Ranging from Disney and Pixar classics to the Simpsons and the Pink Panther, it proved to be a fantastic evening in the Drama Studio for all involved!
FRIDAY 14TH FEBRUARY
THE ROMCON
Whether single and ready to mingle, or in love and looking for a way to celebrate Valentine's Day, we organised the perfect chance for a night of music at Blue Bar! Our Jazz Collective played love songs to celebrate love of all kinds free for everyone, with any donations going towards Stonewall as part of LGBTQ history month.
FRIDAY 13TH DECEMBER
MUSIC SOC IN THE HIVE
For our last on-campus event of 2019, Brass Ensemble, Concert Band, and Big Band teamed up to send UEA on their way for Christmas with an afternoon of fun and festive music before we broke up for the holidays.
THURSDAY 5TH DECEMBER
MUSIC SOCIETY CHRISTMAS BALL
A true highlight of the year, we hosted a musical theatre concert in the LCR featuring our fantastic choir and soloists, accompanied by Big Band, Concert Band and a pit band, and delivered a night of showstopping numbers from the likes of Wicked, Hamilton and Into the Woods!
TUESDAY 21ST JANUARY
MUSIC SOCIETY DOES DAMN GOOD SHREKTACULAR
For our first society-wide social of the new year, we organised for us to go out for the Damn Good Shrektacular night in the LCR, in honour of some of our society having a strange fixation on the film! Our Social Secretary even won best damn good attendee of the night so it was a great night all round!
FRIDAY 24TH JANUARY
BIG BAND ALBUM LAUNCH
We organised a night of live music in Blue Bar from UEA's premier stage band Big Band for the release of their album! Entry was free but with a raffle to raise money for Legs4Africa and all our CD proceeds going towards the charity too, we managed to raise £164.10 for a worthwhile cause!
WEDNESDAY 27TH NOVEMBER
FLUTES AND STRINGS IN THE HIVE
Providing a musical backdrop to the busy goings on of UEA, our Flute Ensemble ans String Ensemble played to the students of UEA in an afternoon of brilliant music, and with the odd Christmas song thrown in to remind everyone that the holidays were approaching!
SUNDAY 1ST DECEMBER
WINTER WONDERLAND SHOWCASE
As a fitting finale to the year for many of our ensembles, all 8 of our groups helped kick-start UEA into the festive spirit with our winter showcase, featuring all the amazing music we have played during the year.
THURSDAY 7TH NOVEMBER

TUESDAY 29TH OCTOBER
MUSIC SOCIETY DOES DAMN GOOD SPOOKTACULAR
Shaking things up from our normal socials, we took the party to the LCR alongside UEA Maths Soc for the best Damn Good night of the year, the Halloween Spooktacular!
MONDAY 7TH-FRIDAY 11TH OCTOBER
FRESHERS FESTIVAL
We're starting off the new academic year with another festival of music! With open rehearsals beforehand, we featured our Big Band, Choir and Concert Band in the Hive to provide UEA with a reintroduction to UEA Music Society for the next academic year.
JULY
JC TOUR
Our Jazz Collective went on a short tour visiting various venues in Oxford for a few days in the Summer shortly before graduation, acting as the last hurrah for many of our members this year. Having been so active across Norfolk over the past year, it only seems apt that the last word of UEA Music Society for 2018/19 comes from them!
WEDNESDAY 12TH JUNE
END OF YEAR BBQ
For our final social of the 2018/19 academic year, we kept things casual and organised a BBQ. Although we ended up indoors due to the typical changeable British weather, we made the most of exams coming to a close to have a relaxing end to the term.
THURSDAY 9TH MAY
SPRING BALL
Celebrating our achievements and taking the opportunity to take a break before exams, we had our annual Spring Ball. Setting up in the beautiful Music Room at Assembly House in Norwich, we used the opportunity to dress up and announce our committee for the coming year as well as the winners of our annual awards. Followed by a traditional night out in Norwich, it was a night to remember for all!
SATURDAY 4TH MAY
A NIGHT AT THE MOVIES
Featuring Concert Band and Choir, we enjoyed an evening of film classics ranging from Lord of the Rings to Chicken Run and all things in between, including the perennial favourite of concert band How to Train Your Dragon! A fitting end to the last of our major concerts this year.
SUNDAY 17TH MARCH
SHREKTACULAR MOVIE NIGHT
Inspired by our String Ensemble's rendition of a Shrek medley at the showcase, we did our best to escape from the swamp of coursework for a night at the movies with only one franchise on our minds...

SPRING SHOWCASE 2019
Featuring all 8 of our ensembles, our Spring Showcase served as a great opportunity for all of our groups to perform what they've been working on this year in front of a large audience in the Drama Studio.
